Drinking fountains
Empty water bottles can be quickly refilled with fresh water at the drinking fountains along the Way of St James.
As a pilgrim, you should not underestimate the physical exertion involved in travelling on foot. Staying well-hydrated is essential for your physical wellbeing. Drink much more than your thirst would suggest. An old mountaineering rule goes: “Drink like a calf (lots!) and walk like an ox (slowly, especially downhill – your knees will thank you for it!) – then you’ll go far and stay healthy!”
