The Weinviertel Way of St James forms part of the European cultural route, the Romea Strata, which stretches from the Baltic Sea to Rome. The Romea Strata is a network of historic routes that once led travellers from north-eastern and central Europe to Rome. It crosses several countries – Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria and Italy – and connects the Baltic Sea with the heart of Italy via centuries-old paths. In the Weinviertel, the Romea Strata runs from Mikulov to Stockerau, following the Weinviertel Way of St James.
