Al fresco dining in the Weinviertel region

When the kitchens move into the fields and the great Weinviertel outdoors sets the stage.

Top chefs and winegrowers from the Weinviertel treat guests to an al fresco five-course meal accompanied by fine wines – outdoors on trestle tables laid with white tablecloths.

Mother nature provides a stunning backdrop for the annual Tafeln im Weinviertel event, during which the region’s top chefs and winegrowers cook up a storm. Fields of vines set the stage for a delicious dinner, with the setting sun casting everything in a perfect light. A balmy summer night beneath the open skies offers an unforgettable experience.

Top cuisine

Weinviertel restaurateurs set the scene for a perfect evening featuring a five-course meal, wine and music. Top chefs from the Weinviertel region use regional ingredients such as game, onions, squash and potatoes – all sourced from local suppliers – to lovingly create delicious cuisine. Wines made by local winegrowers are paired with the meal. The distinctively peppery Grüner Veltliner Weinviertel DAC is a must for any Weinviertel gourmet experience.

Al fresco dining

The Tafeln im Weinviertel event – the original outdoor ‘Tafeln’ experience which sees visitors sit together outdoor on a single table (Tafel) covered with white table cloths – has made a name for itself far beyond the local area and is now one of the highlights of the region. A special atmosphere, great food, Weinviertel wines, friendly hosts and the leisurely enjoyment that characterises the region are just some of the ingredients behind an unforgettable evening. The individual events are hosted at various memorable locations including cellar lanes, agricultural estates and even out in the vineyards. The long white tables make for an unobtrusive addition to these distinctive Weinviertel landscapes.
