Hermann Nitsch was a co-founder of Viennese Actionism and was one of the most versatile contemporary artists: actionist, painter, composer (symphonies, organ concertos), stage designer. His Gesamtkunstwerk, the Orgien Mysterien Theater, encompasses the broad spectrum of his art by requiring the use of all five senses.

In 2025, the nitsch museum Mistelbach presents the exhibition "My Nitsch", curated by the internationally renowned art collector and long-time companion of Hermann Nitsch, Karlheinz Essl. From March 30 to November 30, 2025, the show will provide a personal insight into the visionary artist's work and display selected works from the Essl Collection. Visitors can look forward to new perspectives and exciting impulses.

In addition, workshops for all the senses will allow visitors to get to know Nitsch's work in a special way as part of the current exhibitions. Inspired by a guided tour through part of the current exhibition, participants can then create their own pictures using Hermann Nitsch's painting techniques. Paint is poured and painted to music and using bare hands and feet.
