Kirche Waitzendorf Hl. Dreifaltigkeit
Church
Description
The presbytery with a low entrance and Gothic vault was the first construction of the Waitzendorf church. The church was extended with the construction of the triumphal arch and the addition of a nave up to the choir. Construction of the church tower with two onions began in 1711. Due to severe damage caused by a strong hurricane in 1864, the old tower had to be demolished. The newly erected tower has retained its shape to this day. In 1930, the tower separated from the church, it sank sideways and has been leaning ever since. With its inclination of 1.1° (approx. 50 cm), it is the "most leaning church tower in Austria".
