Kellergasse "Silberberg" Altlichtenwarth

Cellar-lined roads

Description

Viticulture in Altlichtenwarth dates back to the 14th century. The vineyard name "Plad" (Plothen) is mentioned in a document. The Silberberg, located to the west of the Hutsaulberg, is one of the best vineyards in the village with its steep slopes. Legend has it that the name Silberberg is derived from the fact that the wines were only traded for silver due to their quality. The wines used to be stored in the cellars on the Silberberg. The romantic, overlapping wine cellar lanes contribute significantly to the overall appearance of the village.

The unmistakable charm of the Weinviertel wine cellar lanes can be experienced most impressively on a guided tour.
This provides fascinating insights into their history and the former significance of these special places.
