Kellergasse Asparn/Zaya

Coming from the south on the former Poststraße, Asparn an der Zaya welcomes you with a wine cellar lane around 300 meters long, lined with a single row of chestnut trees. The wine cellar lane has 48 wine press houses and 17 wine cellars, and the architecture of the press houses, wine cellars and cellar tubes is very diverse. The cellars have a variety of vaults:

• cross vaults
• barrel vault
• interrupted vaults (chamfers or belts)
• Cellar tubes that are only hewn in clay

The unmistakable charm of the Weinviertel wine cellar lanes can be experienced most impressively on a guided tour.
This provides fascinating insights into their history and the former significance of these special places. In Asparn/Zaya, for example, you can visit a press house where wine was still produced until 2008.
