Galgenberg cellar lane

Cellar-lined roads

Description

The Galgenberg, also known as "Golingbiri", takes its name from a gallows that was located on this mountain until 1828. Nowadays, the 256-metre-high Galgenberg is primarily known for its excellent wines. The wine cellar lane with its 180 press houses nestles around the Galgenberg and a church tower without a church watches over the summit of the "Golingbiri". The Galgenberg lies around one kilometer outside the village of Wildendürnbach and is surrounded by around 40 hectares of cultivated vineyards.

In 2013, the Galgenberg was named "Wine Cellar Lane of the Year 2013"!

The unmistakable charm of the Weinviertel wine cellar lanes can be experienced most impressively on a guided tour.
This provides fascinating insights into their history and the former significance of these special places.
