Description

A family business like in the old days

In 1953, Johann Schmidt took over his parents' farming and winegrowing business and opened a small Buschenschank (typical tavern) in their home with his wife Maria in the 1960s. The success and steady expansion led to the wine tavern moving to its current address at Schloßgasse 39 in 1972.
In 1985, son Franz and his wife Barbara took over the business and the family was completed with Franz Josef, Philipp and Johanna. All three were involved in the daily work with joy and enthusiasm from an early age. As the family grew, so did the business, with agriculture and viticulture gradually expanding.
In 2016, Franz Josef, Philipp with Birgit and Johanna with Lilly took over the business. Conscious of the long tradition, with proven quality and many new ideas, they have succeeded in retaining regular guests, making new friends and opening up sales opportunities for their own products from natural farming.
In 2013, 2015 and 2020, Luis, Klara and Peter were born, who will perhaps carry on the legacy in the fourth generation in the future.

Our wine tavern

You can enjoy excellent hot and cold dishes to go with our wines. We only use regional products and make all the dumplings, spreads, salads, side dishes and desserts ourselves.
The meat comes from our own animals, which are fed with products from our farm. You will taste the difference.
The products from our Mangalitza farm are a particular specialty. At the wine tavern you can take home our wines, Mangalitza bacon and lard, as well as various delicacies such as jams and pastries, made by Johanna with great effort and attention to detail.
