Unterstinkenbrunn

Unterstinkenbrunn is a small Weinviertel municipality in the district of Mistelbach, located on the southern edge of the Laa Basin. First mentioned in a document in 1147, today it is a typical wine-growing village with romantic wine cellar lanes and a well-known cellar village. The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Peter and St. Paul stands on a small hill on the main road, visible from afar.

Excursions and vacation days in Unterstinkenbrunn are particularly relaxing. In addition to beautiful hiking trails, there are tennis courts and a large outdoor pool - with a beach volleyball court, soccer pitch and children's playground. Incidentally, the municipality has already won several awards: as the "most beautiful village" in the flower decoration competition.

The famous cellar village in Unterstinkenbrunn

The "Loamgrui" cellar village is a special gem in the municipality. It is directly connected to the village by two hollow paths. The historic buildings are arranged around a central square, where festivals such as the annual Advent market take place. A Buschenschank (typical tavern) also opens its doors here at selected times.

A very interesting fact is that every house in Unterstinkenbrunn has a miniature counterpart: for every actual house in the village, there is a small one in the cellar village. From the cellar village, two hollow paths lead south to the "Blaues Kreuz", where a magnificent panoramic view awaits: across the plain of the Laa basin far into the Czech Republic and east to the Staatzer Berg. The hollow paths are protected natural monuments.

In Unterstinkenbrunn there is also a typically elongated wine cellar lane at Unterstinkenbrunn Castle. There are 18 buildings over a length of more than one hundred meters. The castle itself is privately owned and is not open to the public.
