Weingut Seher
Description
The Seher winery is located in Platt in the Retzer Land region and has been run by Wolfgang Seher since 2001. The Seher family cultivates vineyards in Platt and Obermarkersdorf (municipality of Schrattenthal in Retzer Land) in roughly equal parts. The different terroirs, the calcareous loess-loam soils in Platt and the primary rock soils in Obermarkersdorf make it possible to grow a range of varieties that are perfectly adapted to the location.
The 14 hectares of vineyards are mainly planted with the typical Weinviertel variety Grüne Veltliner. The white wine varieties Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc and Gelber Muskateller and the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are also vinified. On average, 60,000 bottles are produced each year. The pursuit of quality has enabled the winery to be listed in the Falstaff Weinguide after just two years, and now also in Gault Millau.
