Weingut Sutter
Description
The Sutter winery can look back on a long tradition dating back to 1671. Today, Doris and Leopold Sutter are the 10th generation to run the winery. The focus today is clearly on Veltliner diversity. Roter, Frühroter and Grüne Veltliner form the core of the range. The varietal rarity and white wine diva Roter Veltliner, which requires a great deal of sensitivity, experience and hard work, is particularly close to the winemaker couple's hearts.
Doris and Leopold Sutter's work is characterized by natural cultivation of the vineyards and restraint in the cellar. In the vineyard, this is reflected in careful pruning, controlled foliage work, vine treatment that is gentle on beneficial insects, water-saving soil cultivation and careful manual work. This is why the Sutter winery has been certified by Sustainable Austria. And in keeping with the spirit of the times, some wines have also been certified vegan. In the cellar, they intervene as little as possible in the winemaking process. Each wine should develop individually, convey its origin and thus be unmistakable. After bottling, the wines are matured in steel tanks or wooden barrels in the cellar, which is kept at a natural temperature of between eight and ten degrees in both summer and winter. This is the ideal environment for the wines to come to rest and continue maturing in the bottle.
