Landesbunny Rübensteig

Start: Mollmannsdorf / Finish: Schleinbach

Enjoy the scenery between Mollmannsdorf and Schleinbach! Take the vintage train of the Leiserberge Regional Express from Vienna or Korneuburg to reach the Mollmannsdorf stop, the starting point of the “Landesbunny Rübensteig.”

Passing through the quiet center of a typical Weinviertel village, you’ll reach the edge of the forest—the marked trail gently ascends through a shady deciduous forest, passing rest areas, wayside crosses, and wayside shrines, up to an elevation of about 350 m above sea level. Here, you can choose from numerous hiking trail options in all directions.

If you follow the “carrots,” the descent to Schleinbach begins in a romantic forest ravine that leads into Schleinbach’s wine cellar lane. You continue hiking through the well-maintained center of Schleinbach to the train station—from here, you have hourly rapid-transit service to Vienna.

Why the “Landesbunny-Rübensteig”? Numerous hares can be seen from the train along the Landesbahn—the “Landesbunnys,” as they’re called! Rabbits love turnips—and so the symbol for the trail markers was born!

Numerous signs featuring easy and slightly more challenging puzzles offer plenty of entertainment, especially for children!

A total of 8 “stamps” are hidden along the trail. Anyone who stamps their “Landesbunny-Rübensteig” brochure with them can pick up a little surprise at the inn near the Schleinbach train station.
