Description
Fast connection from the Northern Railway in Gänserndorf and the Marchegg Eastern Railway in Marchegg
As a branch line of the Lower Austrian Northern Railway, this short but important railroad line runs from Gänserndorf to Marchegg. Since 2012, the single-track, electrified line has been considered a high-performance line. The stations on the railroad line are Gänserndorf, Stripfing and the completely modernized Oberweiden station as well as Marchegg.
In keeping with the green landscape through which it runs, the railroad is now powered by 100 percent green traction current. This means a particularly sustainable form of mobility, as ÖBB's traction current is generated entirely from renewable energy sources. This has created the potential to save 1,500 tons of CO2 annually.
