Liechtenstein Schloss Valtice (Feldsberg)

Castle, Historical sites

Description

Valtice Castle was owned by the Liechtenstein family for centuries and was the dynasty's main residence from 1560. The Liechtenstein family employed many famous artists and the castle is considered one of the most important examples of Baroque architecture in the Czech Republic. The former Baroque garden with statues and small buildings was transformed into a natural landscape park. The representative rooms of the castle could be visited in the absence of the owners from the 19th century onwards. Today's exhibition rooms give the impression of a representative baroque residence. The chateau grounds are part of the Lednice and Valtice castles, which are on the UNESCO list.
