Hiatahütte Straning

Historical sites

Description

The Hiata hut in Straning, a protective hut for vineyard keepers built from sandstone around 1850, is a remarkable testimony to the region's history. The 'Hiata' were responsible for monitoring the surrounding vineyards during the ripening season. Today, the hut stands in the middle of dry grassland, lined with sand irises, and offers an impressive panoramic view of the gently undulating landscape. The view extends as far as the bustard reserve near the Wartberg fortified church. This place is not only a historical monument, but also a place of peace and beauty that transports visitors back in time and at the same time enchants them with its natural beauty.
