The museum is located in the north-western side wing of the castle complex (opened in 1985). On display are unique finds (bones of elephants and rhinoceroses) from the gravel of the Urdonau, which were recovered from gravel pits in the immediate vicinity of the town. The age of these exhibits is around 10 million years. There are also finds from prehistoric times from the Neolithic period through the Bronze Age and Hallstatt period to the Middle Ages, which document the ancient history of our homeland. Other exhibition themes include Farming implements, viticulture, cellar management, domestic utensils and furnishings, local history, commercial enterprises (saddlery, fitter's workshop, etc.) Church clockworks from 1742 and 1914 are part of the ecclesiastical and technical exhibits.
