Europawarte Waitzendorf

The Europawarte St. Benedikt, majestically situated on the Schafberg near Waitzendorf, marks the border with the Waldviertel and towers 471 meters above sea level. This impressive lookout tower was built in 1980 to commemorate the 1500th anniversary of St. Benedict, the patron saint of Europe, and was completely renovated in 2019. As a visible sign of the community of the peoples of Europe, the Europawarte offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. 112 steps lead up to the viewing platform, crowned by a 6-metre-high cross that towers into the sky. With a total height of 26 meters, the Europawarte is an impressive structure.
