Weingut Herbert Studeny
Description
The Herbert Studeny winery, located in Obermarkersdorf near the traditional wine town of Retz, is a small but fine winery that cultivates 16 hectares of extravagant single-vineyard wines on the Manhartsberg. It is only an hour's drive from Vienna and 45 minutes from Krems. The Sündlasberg and Triftberg vineyards on the slopes of the Manhartsberg are particularly ideal for the Riesling, Grüne Veltliner and Sauvignon Blanc varieties. The often old vines, which can be up to 50 years old, are rooted in barren, weathered primary rock soils. The granite in the subsoil gives the wines a fine, exciting acidity. The long ageing on the fine lees gives the wines the necessary harmony and complexity. Herbert Studeny's mineral 'cool-climate' wines are a must for every wine lover.
If you stop here with your motorhome, you can not only linger, but also immerse yourself in the landscape, wine and craftsmanship. The pitches are located directly behind the tasting room and have electricity and water supply. Wine tastings and guided tours of the vineyards are available by appointment. Excursion destinations in the surrounding area include the Europawarte Waitzendorf, Schrattenthal Castle and the Thayatal National Park.
