Description

The Kruder family of innkeepers has proven its gastronomic skills many times in the past. With the opening of Gasthaus zum Grünen Baum in Zistersdorf, Angelika and Georg Kruder have made a lasting decision: they have come to stay, to help shape the culinary landscape of the Weinviertel and to offer down-to-earth cuisine. The philosophy of the establishment also sounds quite plausible: "Homemade tastes best." The craft they have learned is practiced to perfection. The game specialties come from local hunts and are not only seasonal on the menu. The roasted fried chicken, the Wagram salmon trout fillet with kohlrabi and mashed potatoes and the tenderly roasted pasture-raised beef are all highly memorable. For dessert, guests usually prefer the homemade Powidltascherln with poppy seeds or breadcrumbs.

The wine and the inn

The ambience in the Gasthaus zum Grünen Baum is also harmonious and inviting. Guests can choose between the charming Stüberl, the extra room and a seat under the shady chestnut trees in the inn's garden. But it's not just on the surface that you'll find real treasures here. A historically memorable wine cellar has been created from a former ice pit under the restaurant. The focus is on grape varieties from the Weinviertel. One or two international wines are also waiting to be tasted. There is also plenty to experience around the inn. The museum village of Niedersulz is a good choice for families.
