Herrnbaumgarten is one of the oldest - the Weinriede Druchsenbergen is mentioned in documents as early as 1285 - and with 550 hectares of vineyards one of the largest wine-growing communities in the Weinviertel.
The Heakratza vineyard is home to the former church cellar, which was first mentioned in 1672, as well as press houses dating from around 1715. The Prince von und zu Liechtenstein owns what is probably the most famous vineyard in Herrnbaumgarten, with a vineyard area of around 40 hectares. The Heakratza wine cellar lane is the "Hintaus" cellar lane parallel to the main street, where the chickens scratched in earlier times.
The unmistakable charm of the Weinviertel wine cellar lanes can be experienced most impressively on a guided tour.
This provides fascinating insights into their history and the former significance of these special places. On a guided tour through the wine cellar lane "Heakratza", you will pass the castle fountain as well as the remains of the walls of the former castle of the Lords of Baumgarten. At the end of the tour, a glass of Herrnbaumgarten wine is tasted under an old stone press in a press house.
