Bio Weingut Elisabeth Rücker

Description

The organic winery Elisabeth Rücker is known for its sustainable cultivation of the vineyards in Unterretzbach, in the northernmost part of the Weinviertel, near the picturesque wine town of Retz. Since the beginning of Elisabeth Rücker's winemaking career, independence and harmony with nature have been at the forefront. Since the early 1980s, the family has refrained from using herbicides and has relied on the advantages of revegetation management. This formed a solid basis for the conversion to organic and biodynamic methods. Old vines, 60% of which were planted between 1980 and 1955, are an elementary component of the vineyards. The weather extremes of recent years are particularly evident in the vineyard and are reflected in the taste of the wines. The 2018 vintage, for example, is characterized by its extremely hot and dry summer, while the 2020 vintage impresses with its cool minerality and beautiful acidity.
