Weingut Hagenbüchl

Description

The Hagenbüchl vineyard is a place that tells a fascinating story. Ten million years ago, the primeval Danube flowed from Krems towards the Weinviertel, through Hohenwarth and flowed into a warm tropical ocean near Mistelbach, populated by sharks, manatees and crocodiles. Over time, it became colder, the sea disappeared and the sandbanks of the dried-up primeval Danube formed the source material for the loess blankets and sand dunes that characterize the Weinviertel today. The Hagenbüchl winery, a 3rd generation family business, cultivates its vines on this sand. Daniela and Fritz Hagenbüchl have specialized above all in the varietal development of the different Veltliner varieties - green, red and early red. The approximately 11 hectares of vineyards around Hohenwarth in the Weinviertel and Wagram form the basis for this. However, Rivaner, Chardonnay and Muskat Ottonel as well as the red wine varieties Blauburger and Zweigelt are also cultivated. The region around Hohenwarth at the foot of the Manhartsberg is climatically and geologically favored and has an almost 1000-year-old wine culture. The Hagenbüchl winery offers enjoyable tastings, informative tours of the vineyard and cellar as well as monthly wine chats.
