Weingut Christen
Description
The Christen winery, located in Herrnbaumgarten in the northern Weinviertel region, is now run by the sixth generation of Bernhard Christen. Herrnbaumgarten, one of the largest wine-growing communities in Austria, is proud of its wine-growing tradition, which dates back to the time of the ancient Germanic tribes. Bernhard Christen, a true Weinviertel native, is known for his straightforward and direct manner, which is also reflected in his wines. With around 30 hectares of vineyards, the winery offers an impressive range of varieties. Grüner Veltliner dominates, typical of the Weinviertel, but Welschriesling, Blauer Portugieser, Zweigelt, Muscat, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Blanc are also represented. Bernhard Christen also focuses on the rare Rotgipfler and likes to go his own way, for example with the Blauer Burgunder, which finds perfect conditions on his "Steinberg" site. He would also like to push his white wine cuvées. The quality of the wines is regularly confirmed by awards at recognized wine competitions.
The wines can be purchased from the winery every Saturday morning or by telephone appointment.
