Route description Meiseldorfer Pond
The walk leads from Eggenburg to the Meiseldorfer Pond, a small peaceful fish pond owned by the Suttner family. The start is at the Krahuletz Museum. You leave Eggenburg via Engelsdorferweg. The route passes by the ruins of an old manor, the historically significant Wieshof. The path runs along the "Urzeitweg" up to the pond. On the way back, you follow the signs first at the edge of the forest, then through a forest path, cross the Lateinbach, and return to the town via Hochstraße.
Directions
From Vienna on the A22 to Stockerau, then on the B4 towards Horn to Maissau, turn off to Eggenburg on the B35 for another 8 km.
Or from Stockerau via the B303 to Hollabrunn and further on the B2 via Schöngrabern to Eggenburg.
From the West Autobahn (A1), take the St. Pölten East exit onto the S33 towards Krems to Gedersdorf, continue on the B35 via Straß and Mühlbach to the B4, then turn left towards Horn to Maissau, turn off to Eggenburg on the B35 to Eggenburg.
From the Czech Republic on the 413 via Hnanice/Mitterretzbach, continue on the B35 via Retz to Eggenburg.
Parking
Public, free parking lot at the Eggenburg town hall, access via Kühnringerstraße or via Leinwandbleiche.
