Description
Wolkersdorf is nestled in the gently rolling landscape of the Weinviertel. To the south, the small town borders the edge of the Vienna Basin, while the gentle hills of the Weinviertel rise up to the north, offering breathtaking views across Vienna to the Schneeberg. First mentioned in a document in 1187, the town has developed over the centuries into an important educational, cultural and economic center in the southern Weinviertel. The original castle complex was built in 1240. Today, the lovingly renovated Wolkersdorf Castle with its regional music school, restaurants, event and gallery spaces is a living landmark of the town. Wolkersdorf im Weinviertel is considered an extremely liveable and lovable hometown with an appealing range of sports and leisure activities due to its multifaceted nature and diversity. Wolkersdorf im Weinviertel is also known for the Hochleithenwald forest and its numerous excellent wineries and restaurants.
