Wanderquartett: Bisamberg Rundwanderweg

Watch for traffic between the station parking lot and the Vienna/Hagenbrunn city limits!

The trail markers for the four trails of the Weinviertel Hiking Quartet begin at Bahnhofsplatz in Langenzersdorf:

• Bisamberg Circular Hiking Trail (yellow)
• Dirnelwiesen Trail (blue)
• Kaspar Schrammel Trail (red-white-green)
• Tuttendörfl Circular Hiking Trail (green).

The first three trails run together past the train station building and lead to the path along the railroad tracks toward Vienna. The route passes the entrance to the train platform and the kindergarten; after a sharp left turn in the road, you’ll reach Prader Park. The blue markers for the Dirnelwiesenweg branch off to the right. We turn left onto Haydnstraße, which joins Friedhofstraße. Turn right and continue straight ahead to the Langenzersdorf Cemetery. Turn left onto Dr. Ludwig-Straße, which leads to Wiener Straße. A traffic-light-controlled crosswalk allows us to cross to the uphill side of the street. We walk a few meters toward Vienna and then immediately turn left onto Weintorgasse (SK).
At the junction with Kellergasse, the Kaspar Schrammel-Weg branches off to the left. However, we turn right onto the wine cellar lane toward Vienna. After the “Vienna” town sign, the second left—Unteren Jungenberggasse, which branches off uphill—leads to a moderate climb. We hike along the narrow, cobblestone ravine path to a magnificent viewpoint offering views (depending on weather conditions) of Vienna, the Vienna Woods, the Leitha Mountains, the Marchfeld, and the Little Carpathians. After passing vineyards, there’s a short descent to Bründlgasse, which leads to the right—with a slight drop in elevation—toward Krottenhofgasse. We turn left and hike along a moderately ascending sunken path, passing numerous wine cellars, to the intersection with the Stammersdorf–Hagenbrunn road and the Stone Cross.
Now, special caution is advised (stay to the left!) when walking along the slightly ascending Hagenbrunner Straße. Passing vineyards and the Herrnholz grove, we reach the road saddle between Vienna and Hagenbrunn. After crossing the road’s crest (crossing two city hiking trails), we walk down a slight slope to the left edge of the forest, where there is a parking lot and a nature conservation ranger’s hut. From the parking lot, we follow the yellow marker signs straight ahead (do not follow the yellow walking arrows to the left!) into the forest, which leads to the edge of the Hagenbrunn settlement of Wolfsbergen. Passing the Hubertus Chapel, we reach the outskirts of Hagenbrunn. The road turns left into Schlossgasse, which leads into Hauptstraße. We turn left and climb to the crest of Hauptstraße, crossing the red-white-red markings.
Then we keep left onto Kirchenweg and walk past several “My Way” sculptures to St. Veit Church. In front of it, the path leads slightly downhill to the right toward a crossroads. We do not turn right onto Kirchenweg toward Klein-Engersdorf, but instead continue straight ahead on Bisamberger Salzstraße: a beautiful view of Kreuzenstein Castle and the Rohrwald. The path descends gently to the outskirts of Bisamberg.We now turn onto Brunnstubengasse, which leads into Schliefbergweg. A few meters to the left is the intersection of Parkring and Josef-Dabsch-Straße. We carefully cross Josef-Dabsch-Straße at the crosswalk and take the sidewalk on Am Wehrgraben across the street. The footpath curves widely to the left and leads to Korneuburger Straße, which we cross. To the left is the recently renovated plague column. We walk along Franz Weymann-Gasse to the edge of town where the Donaugraben is located. To the left, we take a wide embankment—with a wooden bridge and a hidden SK in between—and continue along the channel to Federal Highway B 3. We cross B 3 at a traffic-light-controlled intersection and stop at the entrance to the Schießbühl Nursery. We briefly dismount and walk between the nursery and the company grounds. Afterward, a short climb takes us to the crest of the Donaugraben embankment. The embankment leads straight to Tuttenhofstraße, which takes you left toward Langenzersdorf (town sign)—from here on, there are also additional blue and red-white-red markings all the way to the finish. We keep slightly to the right toward the Bisamberg train station, walk the entire length of the platform, and head to the “An den Mühlen” underpass at the lower end.
We go through the underpass toward the Danube and the A22 noise barrier. Shortly after, the Johann Masser-Weg branches off to the left, passing the Scheibenmais sports complex and a massive high-voltage power line tower. After that, we turn left onto Trail 14 and walk to the edge of the Aupark. Through the remnants of the floodplain forest, the trail leads to Jahnstraße, where the club hall is located. The street joins Klosterneuburger Straße at the underpass near the Langenzersdorf train station. A few meters further on, at Bahnhofsplatz, the loop around the Bisamberg is complete.
