Description
The Veltliner wine tour starts in Laa an der Thaya and takes in parts of the northern Weinviertel region of Lower Austria. This ambitious full-day bicycle tour for leisure cyclists provides no end of opportunities to soak up the natural environment, arable landscapes and vineyards.
- Route description The Weintour mit Aussichten – Veltliner gets underway in Laa an der Thaya, and continues along the Laa levels to Wildendürnbach where the Galgenberg hill awaits with its idyllic cellar lane lined with 180 wine cellars. The tour then continues towards Falkenstein, a picture postcard winegrowing community overlooked by the ruined fortress of the same name. Via Poysbrunn you will reach the town of Herrnbaumgarten and cycle to the winegrowing centre of Poysdorf, where numerous cellar lanes, attractions, restaurants and wine taverns provide a great opportunity to take a short break. Passing vineyards, the tour moves on to Staatz before you return to Laa an der Thaya.
