The "Weinradroute Veltliner", starting in Laa an der Thaya, leads through the northern Weinviertel. The challenging day tour offers numerous views of the cultural and natural landscape - from views of the nearby Czech Republic from the Galgenberg near Wildendürnbach to the castle ruins near Staatz, which can be seen from afar. Numerous rest stops along the way and the "Spa of the Senses" invite you to linger.
Be sure to bring enough to drink; the inns in the Weinviertel aren't open every day.
The Weintour mit Aussichten – Veltliner gets underway in Laa an der Thaya, and continues along the Laa levels to Wildendürnbach where the Galgenberg hill awaits with its idyllic cellar lane lined with 180 wine cellars. The tour then continues towards Falkenstein, a picture postcard winegrowing community overlooked by the ruined fortress of the same name. Via Poysbrunn you will reach the town of Herrnbaumgarten and cycle to the winegrowing centre of Poysdorf, where numerous cellar lanes, attractions, restaurants and wine taverns provide a great opportunity to take a short break. Passing vineyards, the tour moves on to Staatz before you return to Laa an der Thaya.
Parking is available right next to the "Therme Laa" hotel.
By car, Laa/Thaya can be reached directly via Federal Highway “B6” from Vienna or “B46” from Mistelbach.
Laa/Thaya can be reached by taking the Schnellbahn from Vienna (via Wolkersdorf and Mistelbach). There is also a bus service from Mistelbach's main square to Laa's town square.
Stay overnight and treat yourself to some pure relaxation the next day at Therme Laa.
