Tour Starting from
Marchegger Ostbahn - From the big city of Vienna to the Weinviertel in comfort.
Sustainable travel with the Marchegger Ostbahn - from the provincial capital to Lower Austria's Weinviertel region.
The Marchegger Ostbahn - often just called the "Ostbahn" for short - was born in 1870. For decades, the main connection from Vienna to Bratislava ran here - even the famous Orient Express used the then double-track line.
Today, the important railroad line transports its guests comfortably between the Austrian capital of Vienna and Marchegg in Lower Austria. The "stork town" in the Weinviertel, which belongs to the district of Gänserndorf, lies on the River March, which is the border with Slovakia. This makes a trip to the fertile Marchfeld region as sustainable as it is convenient. In addition to historical sights, the bird sanctuary of the March-Thaya floodplains and other water-rich nature reserves are particularly inspiring.
The Gänserndorf-Marchegg railroad line is run as a branch line to connect with the Northern Railway.
