Description

The Wald & Reben cycle tour can be started in all seven municipalities in the Manhartsberg region. Starting in Eggenburg (train station/Bahnallee), it first follows the Manhartsberg cycle path southwards and leads via Zogelsdorf and Burgschleinitz to Maissau. From Maissau (Sonndorfer Straße/ Horner Straße junction) it follows the Amethyst cycle path via Unterdürnbach to Limberg. In Limberg (Kleinstraße/Hauptstraße junction), it heads north via the dragonfly pond at the Limberg quarry and the Straninger Au to Straning. From there, the route continues via Etzmannsdorf (past a cyclists' rest stop) and Grafenberg to Wartberg to the vantage point on the Wartberg church hill with a wonderful view over the region and a cyclists' rest stop at the foot of the church hill. From Wartberg, the route continues north to Klein-Reinprechtsdorf (cyclists' rest stop with drinks), where the route follows the Riesling cycle path from the junction with the local road to Röschitz (Schulgasse/Lange Zeile junction). From there, the route continues north along the Weinviertel DAC cycle path through Röschitz to the Ried Reipersberg cycle rest area. From there, the route leads northwest through the vineyards to Feldberg and south again via Roggendorf, Klein-Jetzelsdorf and Kattau to Sigmundsherberg. From the Bahnstraße/Kleinmeiseldorferstraße junction in Sigmundsherberg, the route follows the Manhartsberg cycle path via Kleinmeiseldorf and Engelsdorf back to the starting point in Eggenburg (railroad station/Bahnallee).

Worth seeing (among others): numerous viewpoints with information on scenic features, Burgschleinitz castle, churches, museums, Zogelsdorf show quarry, medieval Eggenburg with Krahulez Museum, Unterdürnbach lavender show garden and Maissau amethyst world.

One of the three "Climate Change Cycle Routes" of the KLAR Region Horn (climate change adaptation model region) was also implemented along the "Forest & Vines Cycle Tour". In addition to the places worth seeing in the region, specially designated climate change points can also be visited. At these points, the effects of climate change are visible or measures that have already been implemented in the region to adapt to climate change are shown. All climate change points are described on the KLAR Region Horn website: www.klar-horn.at/massnahmen/massnahme-9/

The route offers two shortcuts:

* Eggenburg (intersection Hornerstraße/Erzherzog-Karl-Ring) - Stoitzendorf - Klein-Reinprechtsdorf (= section of the Riesling cycle path).

* Burgschleinitz - Straning
