The Hollabrunn sports hall (1975, architect Helmut Leierer) is a column-free dome with an external supporting structure. Its innovative connection technology, the "Hollabrunn node", is considered a milestone. The approximately 2700 m² hall enables multifunctional use for sports and events. A lightweight steel dome with a span of 65 m rests on a few piles, horizontal forces are absorbed by tensioning cables. The construction method is efficient, stable and cost-saving.
