The Kaiserplatz in Obermarkersdorf is named after the bust of Emperor Franz Joseph I, which was erected there in 1908 to mark the 60th anniversary of the monarch's accession to the throne, together with three lime trees in the middle of Obermarkersdorf, which still characterize the place today.

In April 2019, the bust fell from its base during cleaning work on Kaiserplatz. However, it was painstakingly restored and put back in place after a few days.
