Route description Wine cycling route Riesling
The wine cycling route “Riesling” starts in the medieval Eggenburg. Here, right at the beginning, you have the opportunity to take a journey into the past. Unique museums like the “Krahuletz Museum” and the fully preserved city wall offer this chance.
The starting point is the intersection "Bahnhofstraße / Parking lot". The route then leads you east to Stoitzendorf. Here, the picturesque cellar lane, which also features a grape variety trail, invites you to linger. After that, it goes to Röschitz with the “Weberkeller,” which is covered with reliefs. From here to Roseldorf, the “Wine Tour with Insights - Weinviertel DAC Cycle Route” accompanies you. Via Braunsdorf, you continue to Sitzendorf an der Schmida, where you can enjoy the atmosphere of the cellar district and then explore the historic town center. The tour then leads to Frauendorf, where you can use the Frauendorf vineyard tour to get off your bike and stroll through beautiful cellar lanes and vineyards.
If you continue your cycling tour, you reach Ravelsbach via Hollenstein and Gaindorf, known for its baroque church. If needed, you can take the train back to Eggenburg before Ravelsbach. From Ravelsbach, it goes up to Maissau, a place where there are not only fine wines but also precious stones. The Amethyst World located here is not to be missed! Around the mystical gemstone, there is a world of experience to discover. Via Burgschleinitz and Zogelsdorf, you cycle back to Eggenburg, where you can end the day in the historic town center.
