Großkrut

Description

The Kruter håm ....

Depending on the time of year, you will find a quiet, tranquil atmosphere in the middle of old wine cellars in a uniquely beautiful setting on the Kellerberg in Großkrut, or hustle and bustle and exuberant hospitality during the grape harvest.

The circular chapel hill of Althöflein, with St. George's Chapel at the top, bears witness to its past as an early medieval castle complex. Hidden underground is the largest continuous earth stable complex in Central Europe. Over 500 m of corridors run through the hill like a labyrinth. Part of it can be safely visited.

Guided tours of the earth stable every 3rd weekend of the month from March to October or by appointment.

Our municipality has a lot to offer in terms of tourism and is ideal for a day trip! Starting with the 3 churches or the beautiful gently undulating landscape on the way to Wartbergwarte and Gerichtssäule. There's something for everyone here, and if you want to take a more sporty approach, there are tennis courts, a beach volleyball court, soccer pitches, skating facilities and, above all, wonderful cycling and hiking routes! If your bike breaks down along the way, our workshops offer you the best service. Refreshments are available from our innkeepers and in our coffee houses or at the open cellar door (dates can be found on our homepage).

A great range of different events throughout the year ensures that there is never a dull moment in Großkrut.
