Jedenspeigen
Description
The villages of Jedenspeigen and Sierndorf/March not only touch the most valuable parts of the Marchauen, but also offer a particularly attractive mosaic of nature, culture and joie de vivre with their beautiful villages on the sunny slopes of the Weinviertel. A walk through the idyllic Jedenspeigen wine cellar lane takes you to Jedenspeigen Castle. This beautiful Renaissance building from the 16th century is home to a well-produced documentary about the fateful medieval battle between Bohemian King Ottokar and Rudolf of Habsburg. A signposted circular trail leads along the March dam to Sierndorf, from where you can take repeated detours to the March. We recommend a walk around the so-called horseshoe, a paradisiacal oxbow lake for water birds, frogs and fish. In Sierndorf/March there is a local history museum in the old elementary school with interesting finds from the Neolithic Age to modern times. The ancient press houses and cellars on the charming Kellerberg, which tell of the centuries-old wine-growing tradition of the area, make you want to stop off for a glass of good wine. By the way, anyone who stops off at the Kellerberg in Jedenspeigen or Sierndorf/March will certainly not be disappointed by the quality of the wine they have seen growing on the Goldberg. There are also regular guided tours of the cellar lanes on the Kellerberg. In addition to a wine museum in Jedenspeigen and the Sierndorf hobby workshop, there is also a Maria Bründl in the former pilgrimage site of Sierndorf/March.
