The MARKTGEMEINDE HARMANNSDORF is located in a fertile area, the Korneuburg Basin, has been an independent municipality since 1848 and has consisted of seven villages since the municipal merger in 1972: Harmannsdorf-Rückersdorf, Hetzmannsdorf, Kleinrötz, Mollmannsdorf, Obergänserndorf, Seebarn and Würnitz-Lerchenau (only since 1975) The villages of the market town have the typical Weinviertel character and had a predominantly agricultural structure until the middle of the 20th century. In the course of structural change, the villages have been transformed into residential areas for the inhabitants, most of whom commute to the Vienna metropolitan area, and numerous small businesses have settled in Rückersdorf. The market town had a population of around 4,800 in 2015, of which around 900 have their second home here.
