Cycling holiday in the Weinviertel
Where the Iron Curtain once divided Austria and the Czech Republic as well as Austria and Slovakia, you can cycle along the Iron Curtain trails through the picturesque regions of Weinviertel, Southern Moravia and Slovakia. Crossing national borders again and again, the route runs through vineyards and cellar alleys and conveys memories of times gone by at places steeped in history. Starting from the wine town of Retz, you can cycle to Bratislava.
Your travel itinerary:
- Day 1: Journey to Retz (e.g. by train, not included), Retz – Laa/Thaya (50 km)
- Day 2: Laa/Thaya – Herrnbaumgarten (38 km)
You should note that this part of the trail follows the Kamp-Thaya-March cycle path. - Day 3: Herrnbaumgarten – Hohenau (24 km)
- Day 4: Hohenau – Marchegg (44 km)
- Day 5: Marchegg – Bratislava (return journey by train to Retz, not included)
