Description

The mighty border fortress, built around 1050 on a limestone cliff above the romantic wine village of Falkenstein, is today the most famous castle ruin in the Weinviertel with a fantastic view. Particularly worth seeing are a natural limestone cave, the historic vault with finds and a documentation on the history of the Anabaptist movement as well as a replica of a historic wooden galley.

A visit to the castle ruins can also be combined with a one-hour guided tour. A guided tour is offered for groups of 8 or more and there is a special guided tour for children, namely"Adventure tours "Children's life in the Middle Ages".
During this adventure tour, guests learn a lot about the life of children in a medieval castle. After a short tour of the castle ruins, visitors can try their hand at being medieval scribes and seal their own writings with goose feathers and ink. After a small snack of gingerbread and grape juice, there are fun games in the tournament courtyard at the end! However, access is only suitable for buses that do not exceed 12 meters in length.
